Dr. Stephen Quick

Assistant Professor

Dr Quick is a lecturer/Assistant Professor within Rabdan Academy's Defense and Security program at Zayed Military University (ZMU). Prior to joining Rabdan Academy, he spent over fourteen years in the Middle East working in a multi-cultural educational sector, including ten years of full-time experience at the Higher Education graduate-level through teaching, training, curriculum development, and programme management. A former UK military officer, Dr. Quick combines operational experience with that of teaching, training and mentoring military officer cadets in the UK. Previously serving as a senior administrator and faculty member at the UAE National Defence College, Dr. Quick also worked for several years on the national UAE schools-based 'Al Bayariq' Student Citizenship initiative which acted as the forerunner of the country's National Service programme. A security professional, his key academic interests include military history, counterinsurgency/irregular warfare and national security/military strategy. He is currently completing a book (under University of Exeter Press contract) on the Dhofar War in Oman (1965-1975) for publication in 2024.
